Nexperia launches the Trench Schottky Rectifier to improve efficiency in fast switching applications

 NXP PMEGxxxTx

Nexperia announced the expansion of its Trench Schottky rectifier portfolio with new AEC-Q101 certified devices, rated voltage and current of up to 100V and 20A respectively, with low switching loss and increased safe operating area, in the CLIP PlatPower(CFP) package of NXP. Pin sizes are much smaller than those of SMA/SMB/SMC devices.

"Nexperia's Trench Schottky rectifier combines the benefits of forward voltage reduction with extremely low QRR to deliver the high switching speeds required for switched mode power converters while achieving optimal efficiency," noted Jan Fischer, product manager at NExperia. "A wide range of automotive applications, including LED lighting, will benefit from the wide range of safe work areas provided by our devices."

The Trench Schottky rectifier is capable of achieving ultra-fast switching speeds, reducing both rectifier switching losses and MOSFET losses in the same commutator unit. Nexperia's PMEGxxxTx devices are available in a clip-on FlatPower (CFP3 3/5/15 (B)) package that saves space and is thermal efficient, providing a wide safe operating area (SOA) with a greater safety margin and reduced risk of thermal runaway compared to devices currently on the market.
