Hynix name change reflects SK investment

LONDON—Memory chip manufacturer Hynix Semiconductor Inc is changing its name to SK Hynix Inc. This comes after mobile network operator SK Telecom Co Ltd completed the acquisition of a 21 percent stake in Hynix for 3.34 trillion won (about $3 billion) in February.

Hynix shareholders approved the name change March 23, according to a Marketwatch report and the company's Hynix website already redirects to www.skhynix.com and shows the name SK Hynix in logo form.
